Ten years ago on the 21st October, Em opened the doors of Dogs 4 Rescue with a dream of establishing the UK’s pioneering kennel-free rescue. A decade later Dogs 4 Rescue has saved thousands of lives and we’re now embarking on one of our biggest and most ambitious projects yet – Rescue World.
Daring to dream big and do things differently
Back in 2013 Em’s idea of a free-running rescue was virtually unheard of. Most of the UK rescues wouldn’t give her any dogs, believing the model couldn’t work. So she saved Laika and Bobby from Bulgaria instead. And just look at us now 🐶🐶🐶
New beginnings at Rescue World
For our 10th anniversary we promised ourselves we’d get 10 of our dogs up to our new site Rescue World – and that same week we welcomed Clive, Lolli and Kez and friends who have now been joined by more from the D4R Irlam family and some new arrivals, taking our total to over 20. When you dream big and dare to do things differently it comes with the most enormous challenges. This has undoubtedly been the hardest thing we have ever done with blood, sweat and tears along the way. There is still a lot to do, but in making this move not only have we got the first 10 dogs up, it created spaces at our existing site to save more dogs in desperate need.
A huge thank you to you all for making 10 years of D4R possible
We simply couldn’t do what we do without you. Your support is essential and ensures we can save more dogs in desperate need here in the UK and overseas.
We decided against trying to fundraise around our anniversary – instead we wanted to celebrate all we have achieved together. Whether you popped a pound in the handicans’ bucket or donated something more, every single penny has meant the world and played a very real part in getting us to where we are.
A message from Em…
“I can’t believe I’m sat here 10 years after we started this… behind the scenes there is an enormous group of people, including you, who have shown us an incredible amount of support which we are forever grateful for. It has been a tough year – of all the 10 years, this one’s been pretty tough. Everything we do, we do it for the dogs. The Dogs 4 Rescue community is powered by love, and to read your comments is so moving.”
