Rescue World is open
Rescue World is the new site from Dogs 4 Rescue, which we’re busy transforming into a Sanctuary and Rehabilitation Retreat for the dogs no one wants.
Having secured planning, discharged conditions and completed groundworks last year the phase 1 build is almost complete and we welcomed our first dogs to the site in October 2023, with more joining them each month as work on the site progresses.
Set on the outskirts of Accrington, Lancashire, it is an idyllic 41-acre plot with undulating mature countryside and tree lines with opportunities as big as our imagination.
Whilst many buildings are derelict we have already built the first communal dogs’ log cabin. The site also has a large number of additional existing footings and includes an old reservoir which will be perfect for a rewilding project, as well as land for rescue farm animals.
Solving the Problem
Our new site will provide a solution to one of the biggest issues in rescue: what to do with the dogs who need an alternative to traditional kennels, the ones who have shut down and the ones that never get offered a place on the ‘happy bus’.
Rescue World welcomed its first dogs in October 2023 with more joining them each month, freeing up vital spaces at our Irlam site which we’re transitioning back into a rehoming centre.
