Fred - Dogs 4 Rescue

Fred

More about Fred

Fred is a nervous boy but once he knows and trusts you he is a wonderful dog.
He is calm, laid back, extremely affectionate and loves his cuddles!

Fred is a gentle, well mannered dog who never tries to steal food (both from people or other dogs), he will take treats from your hand delicately.
He is super clever and enjoys learning new tricks. He knows how to sit, give paw, and spin around.

Fred has been known to form strong bonds with other dogs, especially females so we would really like to find him a home where there is at least one other dog. He cannot live with cats.

Fred is not a social butterfly, he can be unsure of strangers and will require slow, careful introductions.
He has displayed fear reactivity to some dogs whilst out walking so will require an experienced owner who can offer him guidance and help him feel safe.

In the home Fred has shown to be the perfect house guest and is a very low maintenance dog.
He walks perfectly to heel on-lead, is fully crate trained, clean and non destructive. He is also happy to be left alone for several hours.
His fear of strangers is very easily managed by popping him into a crate with a stuffed Kong when there are visitors to the home.

Fred would like a calm, adult only home with someone who is experienced in handling dogs that display fear reactivity.

About our dogs

Our dogs are microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, flea & wormed and have full travel documents where appropriate. If they are arriving from overseas they will have had all the pre-travel tests as required by DEFRA and are transported through the TRACES system.

We pride ourselves on being honest and open about our dogs, sharing all we know about them including any known behaviour challenges or medical conditions.

Like all responsible rescues we offer Lifetime Rescue Back Up to all the dogs who come through our doors.

One month trial

We want our dogs to be happy in their homes for life, which is why we offer a full one month trial. As they start to relax and their personalities shine through you’ll know if your home life suits and how they get along with any other pets.

If it’s not the right fit, they can come back to rescue and get straight back to playing, and we will try to find you a more suitable match. There aren’t enough homes out there so please don’t give up if your first dog doesn’t work out.
