Phase 2 is watertight!
We had the land, the planning permissions and the determination. It was the single biggest thing we could do in this rescue crisis…
The weather hasn’t been kind but the buildings are up and watertight, and we are working on the interiors as fast as we can.Â
Phase 2 will help hundreds of dogs over the years with the construction of two buildings on existing footings. A large dogs’ log cabin with communal lounges, similar to Phase 1, replaces an old barn. And a small, old cowshed has been converted into Sadie’s Halfway House.Â
Supawvisor Stu has his shop where you can buy affordable items to help with the build. Once again it will be a ‘patchwork of love’ where everyone can feel they played a part in getting the doors open.  Â
Your boy Lollipop will be continue to raise funds with The Rescue Lottery.Â
Stu is supervising from his nosey parker step, Pawsenter Sadie is sharing updates on her 6 o’clock news, weekdays on our socials.
The entire project is being managed by Sean and Adam from ACS Construction Midlands Ltd – a company that truly cares about helping the rescue dogs.Â
The final ground works are being completed ready for the foundations to be dug out. The giant timber frames have been ordered and will be going up in November. Weather permitting we are hoping both buildings will be watertight by Christmas.Â
We will add more information and updates as the build progresses.
Phase 2 plans
Phase 2 works already completed
We have taken down the existing barn which required specialist demolition due to its asbestos panel construction. The steel girders were kept onsite to be recycled in another project, and the asbestos disposed of by a waste management company.
The necessary ground works have also been completed, with a significant fill and grout exercise to stabilise the ground where the foundations will go.
And we have installed stock fencing around half of the perimeter of our 41-acre site to prevent anyone from approaching the dog areas.
With the help of a local Trust we have planted 5,500 trees on our land as part of our rewilding objectives which will also help to screen the dog areas in the years to come.
