Zika - Dogs 4 Rescue

Zika

More about Zika

Zika is a very sweet, affectionate boy who absolutely thrives on human attention – he’s a real cuddle bug!

He loves his home comforts and enjoys a good snooze after a day of exploring.

Zika can be sensitive to his surroundings. He needs time to process and get used to you, so would not appreciate a direct approach to make contact straight away. He will initially want to come to you when he is confident, and knows he can move away if he wants to.

When Zika realises you are okay and he can trust you, he is a really loving boy and likes nothing more than cuddles. He is very clever and eager to learn. His love of food makes training a breeze!

Zika mixes well with other dogs but he enjoys the quiet life and having his own space so would prefer a home on his own.
He also has the potential to live with cats providing that you have experience and patience to safely integrate him.

Zika can display resource guarding behaviour particularly around his rest areas and food, we can provide more information on how to manage this in the home.

He does not cope well being shut away so needs a home where he can come and go. He has displayed separation anxiety in the past but we are working hard to help him overcome this.

Zika will require an adult only home with very few visitors and no visiting children. A quiet home with a garden, preferably with one person would suit him best.

Adoption fee: £250

About our dogs

Our dogs are microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, flea & wormed and have full travel documents where appropriate. If they are arriving from overseas they will have had all the pre-travel tests as required by DEFRA and are transported through the TRACES system.

We pride ourselves on being honest and open about our dogs, sharing all we know about them including any known behaviour challenges or medical conditions.

Like all responsible rescues we offer Lifetime Rescue Back Up to all the dogs who come through our doors.

One month trial

We want our dogs to be happy in their homes for life, which is why we offer a full one month trial. As they start to relax and their personalities shine through you’ll know if your home life suits and how they get along with any other pets.

If it’s not the right fit, they can come back to rescue and get straight back to playing, and we will try to find you a more suitable match. There aren’t enough homes out there so please don’t give up if your first dog doesn’t work out.
