Tim is a timid little boy who is currently settling into foster care and slowly finding his feet. He can be nervous at first, particularly around loud noises or unexpected touch, but with patience and understanding he is beginning to relax and show his gentle nature.
He is very people-oriented, with a clear preference for women, and would ideally suit a female-only home. He has formed a close bond with his foster mum and will happily sit and sleep beside her. While he is now more comfortable with his foster dad, this is still very much on his own terms. Tim would make a wonderful companion for a retired person or someone who can offer him a calm, quiet environment where he feels safe and secure.
Tim does not cope well when left alone and can become upset, so he will need a home where someone is around for most of the day. He could live with another calm, compatible dog following introductions and has shown potential to live with cats.
Out on walks, Tim can be unsure at first when the lead goes on, but once he is outside he settles and enjoys a gentle stroll. He prefers a slow, relaxed pace and likes to stop and sniff along the way. At home, he enjoys watching the garden and will often bark at squirrels.
He can wake during the night for toilet breaks so a home with a secure garden would suit him best.
Feeding time is a little unusual for Tim. He will take food very gently from your hand and although he is interested in his meals, he currently won’t eat from a bowl. He will only eat food placed on the floor, which we believe may be linked to his past experiences.
Tim has a collapsed trachea, which is common in the breed. As a result, he has a cough that can occur at different times, often after waking, and may last for a few minutes. While it can sometimes sound concerning, it does not appear to affect him day-to-day. He also requires dental work, but at present this is considered too risky due to his condition.
He can be a little vocal when seeking attention and may bark when he wants something, sometimes becoming slightly frustrated if he is not understood. This isn’t a major issue but will require some patience and consistency.
Tim is a sensitive little dog who needs a kind, understanding home willing to give him time to build confidence. In the right environment, he will become a loyal and devoted companion, forming a very special bond with his person.
