Robbie - Dogs 4 Rescue

Robbie

More about Robbie

Robbie is a worried little soul who has had a very difficult time. After his dad passed away, his whole world was turned upside down and he struggled to understand what had happened. Although he was incredibly affectionate and loving with his dad, Robbie found it difficult to trust people afterwards and can snap if he feels uncomfortable or is handled before he is ready.

Robbie is looking for a very special person who understands that trust cannot be rushed. He needs someone patient and kind who will allow him to settle at his own pace, without putting pressure on him or expecting too much too soon. Once Robbie feels safe and forms a strong bond with someone, we know he will begin to show them the affectionate little boy he has always been.

He walks well on the lead and enjoys getting out for his walks. He will need his new family to build that relationship with him before expecting to handle him, as being touched or physically handled can currently make him uncomfortable.

Robbie is good with other dogs, although he is more of a boy who likes his own space and doesn’t necessarily need canine company. We feel he would be happiest in a quiet, adult-only home, where life is calm and predictable and he can have his own safe spaces.  He has shown great potential to live with cats.

A secure garden will be essential for Robbie, giving him somewhere safe to potter around and enjoy some time outside without the pressures of being out in public.

Robbie is currently carrying a little more weight than he should, so his new family will need to help him gradually lose some weight through sensible portions, exercise and a healthy routine.

Robbie isn’t looking for someone who wants an instantly confident, cuddly dog. He’s looking for someone who will see the frightened little soul underneath his behaviour, give him time, and allow a relationship to develop naturally. For the right person, earning Robbie’s trust will be incredibly rewarding, and we hope that in time he will feel safe enough to let his loving personality shine through again.

About our dogs

Our dogs are microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, flea & wormed and have full travel documents where appropriate. If they are arriving from overseas they will have had all the pre-travel tests as required by DEFRA and are transported through the TRACES system.

We pride ourselves on being honest and open about our dogs, sharing all we know about them including any known behaviour challenges or medical conditions.

Like all responsible rescues we offer Lifetime Rescue Back Up to all the dogs who come through our doors.

One month trial

We want our dogs to be happy in their homes for life, which is why we offer a full one month trial. As they start to relax and their personalities shine through you’ll know if your home life suits and how they get along with any other pets.

If it’s not the right fit, they can come back to rescue and get straight back to playing, and we will try to find you a more suitable match. There aren’t enough homes out there so please don’t give up if your first dog doesn’t work out.
