Kubo is an absolute delight! He’s one of those dogs who puts his whole heart into everything he does and is learning so incredibly fast. He really wants to be a good boy, and you can see just how proud he is when he gets something right.
Kubo walks beautifully on lead and can sit, give paw, recall and respond to his “look” command. He’s also learning that other dogs aren’t something to be frightened of, and he’s making fantastic progress. He can still become overwhelmed when he sees lots of dogs at once, so quieter walks where the number of dogs he encounters can be kept manageable are best.
And then there are his bear hugs… He gives the BEST cuddles!
Kubo has lived in a home before and does have a few quirks that his new family will need to understand. Indoor environments can still be tricky for him, and slippery floors really worry him. A home with carpets or plenty of rugs would therefore be ideal. He can also be sensitive to certain noises and environmental changes, so he needs a family who will give him time to build his confidence rather than expecting him to cope with everything straight away.
Kubo absolutely loves being outdoors, so a secure private garden is essential.
His ideal home would be somewhere more rural, where walks can be quieter and he can enjoy the outdoors without being overwhelmed by busy environments or lots of dogs.
Kubo is fantastic with children and, with the right introduction, could potentially live with a calm, confident dog. He is very dog social once he feels comfortable and, once he learns to trust another dog, he can be fantastic with them. He tends to be better suited to female dogs, and careful introductions and ongoing management would be important.
What Kubo needs most is someone who is prepared to give him a little time and patience, and who wants to watch a very special boy blossom. Because underneath those little worries is an adorable, affectionate, incredibly willing boy who just wants to learn, trust and be loved.
If you’re looking for a best friend who will give you his whole heart, Kubo — or “Cubby Bear”, as he is affectionately known — really could be your boy.
Kubo is currently in Worcestershire and can be rehomed in the Worcestershire area or within 90 minutes of Manchester.
