Juniper, affectionately known as Juni, is a bright young boy who has so much love to give once he learns that you are a safe person. He bonds deeply with those in his trusted circle.
Juniper hasn’t had the best start in life. He was found abandoned in a plastic bag as a puppy and, sadly, has spent the first year of his life growing up in rescue. Because of this, he is understandably unsure of the world around him, and it can take several introductions before he feels comfortable with somebody new.
The key to Juniper is trust and building a bond. Once that trust is there, you get to see the most wonderful side of him. Beneath that initial uncertainty is an incredibly loving and affectionate boy. He just needs somebody patient and willing to give him the time he needs to show his true self. And before long, you’ll see his soft, playful side begin to emerge, and it’s impossible not to smile at his goofy antics.
Juniper has already shown us just how much he can achieve. He recently enjoyed his very first beach trip and was an absolute star! Experiences like this help him discover that life outside of rescue isn’t something to be afraid of. He simply needs gentle guidance and gradual exposure as he continues to build his confidence.
He is muzzle trained and settles wonderfully in a crate, which he happily uses as a safe and relaxing space. He has also shown us that he can settle beautifully into a routine, and consistency has worked wonders for him. Juniper sleeps over in the house with our live-in staff and is comfortable sharing his space with multiple people and dogs. He loves his home comforts and has learnt that being part of a home can feel safe and predictable.
Juniper absolutely loves other dogs and benefits hugely from having canine friends around him. He is looking for a home with another playful, confident dog who can guide him and help him feel secure.
He is looking for an adult-only home with somebody around for most of the day while he settles into his new life. His new family will need to be patient and willing to work at his pace. They will need to learn to read his body language and use calm, positive handling to help him feel safe and understood. Juniper needs an experienced and confident owner who is prepared to invest the time into his training and building his confidence.
For the right person, Juniper will be an incredibly rewarding companion. There is something very special about watching a dog like Juniper begin to realise that he is safe and slowly let his walls down. He has already shown us how much progress he can make, and with someone willing to continue building on that trust, we have no doubt that he will blossom into a wonderful companion.
The first year of Juniper’s life has been tough, but he is ready to put that chapter behind him. He deserves the chance to discover everything that life has to offer, and we truly believe that for Juniper, things are only up from here.
