Clive - Dogs 4 Rescue

Clive

More about Clive

Clive is a very special boy who has been with us for quite some time, and while he will always hold a huge place in our hearts, we feel he is now ready to find the forever home he truly deserves.

When Clive first arrived with us, he was severely disabled and living with no real quality of life. After careful consideration, the decision was made to amputate both of his rear legs โ€“ a decision that quite literally changed his world. From a sad, withdrawn boy, Clive blossomed into the happiest, giddiest, most playful dog you could hope to meet. Watching him discover joy again has been nothing short of incredible.

Now? Clive lives for zoomies, racing around on soft grass, and being right in the middle of the action. He uses a drag bag to protect his bum and prevent sores or scuff marks, and he can also head out in a buggy for adventures further afield. He toilets independently and does not need expressing.

Personality-wise, Clive is pure magic. He has a huge character and forms deep bonds with his people. Once youโ€™re his friend, you are absolutely his favourite person โ€“ he is loyal, loving, affectionate, and thrives on attention and fuss. He loves being involved, loves feeling included, and truly just wants to be with his humans.

He can also be very cheeky and knows his own mind! Clive loves other dogs and would benefit from living with canine companions, provided clear boundaries are in place. He will happily tell other dogs off if they try to steal his spotlight or attention. He has not yet been cat tested.

Clive is strong-willed, determined, and incredibly food motivated. However, he does need sensible management around strangers. He can be unsure of people he doesnโ€™t trust and may snap if he feels uncomfortable, particularly with visitors in the home. Because of this, adopters must be experienced, confident, and willing to advocate for him and manage introductions properly.

Clive is crate trained and settles well, but he does not cope with being shut away or left alone for long periods โ€“ if isolated, he may chew. For this reason, he is best suited to a home where someone is around for most of the day and where he can truly be part of family life.

Clive isnโ€™t just a dog โ€“ heโ€™s a survivor, a character, and a real gem. He will reward the right home with unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and a bond that is truly something special.

If youโ€™re looking for a dog who will steal your heart, make you laugh daily, and remind you just how resilient dogs can be, Clive might just be your boy.

About our dogs

Our dogs are microchipped, vaccinated, neutered, flea & wormed and have full travel documents where appropriate. If they are arriving from overseas they will have had all the pre-travel tests as required by DEFRA and are transported through the TRACES system.ย

We pride ourselves on being honest and open about our dogs, sharing all we know about them including any known behaviour challenges or medical conditions.ย

Like all responsible rescues we offer Lifetime Rescue Back Up to all the dogs who come through our doors.ย

One month trial

We want our dogs to be happy in their homes for life, which is why we offer a full one month trial. As they start to relax and their personalities shine through youโ€™ll know if your home life suits and how they get along with any other pets.ย

If itโ€™s not the right fit, they can come back to rescue and get straight back to playing, and we will try to find you a more suitable match. There arenโ€™t enough homes out there so please donโ€™t give up if your first dog doesnโ€™t work out.ย
