Candy is a very special girl with a sweet, placid temperament and an infectious love for life. Although she is disabled, she doesn’t believe this holds her back in the slightest, and neither do we. She approaches life with enthusiasm and joy and is such a happy, content little dog to be around. She is a dainty princess, weighing just 12kg, but she has a huge personality.
Candy is incredibly fun-loving and full of sparkle. When she’s in her wheels, she absolutely zooms around, enjoying exploring her surroundings with real enthusiasm. She also knows how to relax and is more than happy to settle down for a rest once she’s had her fun. She is extremely cuddly and loves close contact with her people, making her a wonderful companion.
Candy enjoys the company of other dogs and could happily live with another dog in her new home. She has also previously lived with cats. She is friendly and sociable when meeting new people outside of her home environment, but she can be worried by strangers coming into her home and may be a little territorial at first. With calm introductions and reassurance, she settles well.
Candy will need a compassionate and patient home, ideally with someone who is around for most of the day. She requires help with bladder expression around four to five times a day. While this does involve some hands-on work and can be tiring at times, it is straightforward to learn and Candy is very compliant. Training, guidance, and ongoing support will be provided. Because of the physical aspect of her care, a fit and active person would be best suited to her needs.
Candy recently spent time in foster care, where she settled in beautifully and showed just how adaptable and loving she can be. A home with experience of disabled dogs would be ideal, though this is not essential for the right, committed adopter.
Candy would be best suited to a quiet home with older children aged 14 and over. She is an incredibly rewarding dog who will bring so much joy, affection, and fun to the right home, and she truly deserves a forever family who will love her as much as she loves life.
